Cedar Box Fall Centerpiece

I love decorating for fall.  There is something about all the warm colors of fall that get me excited for the holidays and staying in my jammies and reading a good book in front of the fireplace. Check out the cedar board centerpiece we just made.  I have always wanted something to go on the mantle.  Out mantle is only 6 inches wide so it is hard to find the right fit.  This box was really easy to make and fun to decorate.   You may be asking why the candles.  Well about 18 years ago we had a warm snuggly fire going one Sunday afternoon.  We left the room for a minute and when we came back the room was full of smoke and we noticed smoke coming out of the wall. luckily one of the town firefighters lived across the street.  Dave called 911 and I ran across the street.  The fire department got there in minutes and it only caused minimal damage.  Needless to say we have not had a fire since then.  So I took the ugly fireplace screen down and put in these cute candle stands.

Box measures 27″ long  x 4″ wide x 3.5″ tall.

I used a 2 x 4 for the bottom to add volume to the box.
spanish moss
3 candles
sunflowers
mini pumpkins
fall leafs

*Never leave lit candles unattended.  Take it from me you don’t want the fire department to show up.

This idea was inspired by the Idea Room.  Check out her blog here.  She is amazing!
