Nutmeg Sweet Potatoes

I read somewhere that these were one of Abraham Lincoln’s favorite side dishes.  I have no idea if that is true or not but I thought it was kind of cool.  Even if its not true these are dang good potatoes!


2-3 sweet potatoes
1/4 Cup heavy cream
butter to taste
1/4 tsp nutmeg


Peel and cube sweet potatoes.  Rinse in cold water then boil until tender.  Drain, add cream and mash.  I use my hand held mixer to “mash” the potatoes.  Just mix them until they are combined. There should still be little chunky.  Add half of the nutmeg.   When serving add a dollop of butter and grate a little more nutmeg on top.  ENJOY
