TEXAS Sheet Cake

There are so many versions of Texas Sheet Cake out there.  This is our version.  It is super chocolaty and really satisfies our sweet tooth.  I love this cake because you don’t have to wait for it to cool before you put the frosting on.  If I make this cake I want it NOW.  I don’t want to wait for it to cool.

Cake Ingredients:
1 cup butter
1 cup cold coffee (can use water if you prefer)
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla

In saucepan, combine the butter, coffee and cocoa powder. cook over medium heat until butter melts stirring constantly. allow mixture to cool.  In a separate bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Add the butter mixture, eggs, vanilla sour cream. Pour into a greased sheet pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 min.

Frosting Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup milk
1 lb powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
chopped pecans

In a saucepan; over medium heat melt butter, add cocoa powder and milk. bring to a boil. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla then add the powdered sugar a little at time to prevent lumps. Add chopped nuts. Pour over hot cake.
